“We Defy You - Do Your Worst” : Outrage as Socialist Republican Homes Raided
The news comes as socialist republican activism is gaining momentum, with the Anne Devlin Community Center having opened up recently in the Liberties, sparking increased State surveillance and repression.
A number of homes associated with republican activists in Dublin were searched by Gardaí during early morning operations, according to a statement issued by Anti Imperialist Action Ireland.
The group said armed Garda officers entered several properties at dawn, took hinges off doors, and seized electronic devices belonging to those present, including individuals who were not involved in republican activism.
No arrests were reported following the searches, indicating that the State is attempting to intimidate socialist republican activists, raiding homes under false pretenses.
“Anti Imperialist Action Ireland, our members and our growing support base will not be intimidated or prevented from pursuing our legitimate socialist Republican objectives, “ their statement read, adding that “in the words of the great James Connolly- ‘’we defy you, do your worst”!
Leandra Tolentino, an activist, said in a statement to Aontacht Media that “I think it's outrageous that during the midst of a housing crisis the free state has decided to unleash intimidation tactics on housing activists at a time when they are most needed”.
